On the rarer end of species and of unknown wild origin, the species was first discovered in aquaria, making it unique. The male is very colorful and easily distinguishable, though unlike many other killifish, the female also has some red coloration.
Egg-scatterer
Spawns in mops
10 fry
Live foods, potentially temperature changes
A female will lay eggs in a spawning mop over the course of several days, and the eggs can be collected and hatched in a separate tank. These fish can also be bred in a colony as long as there is adequate cover for the fry.
Another option is to water incubate separately or dry incubate on peat.
