Other Information

Can be kept in pairs or groups. Males are somewhat territorial and will do an unconventional threat display, in which they will flare their fins, but instead of tail slapping, they will fan their pectoral fins as fast as possible for a few seconds, blowing around their surroundings and causing them to shake and drift around a bit. Likes flakes.

Males will carry eggs and fry around until they are big

Spawn Size

Breeding Season or Trigger

Lower pH and conditioning with high protein foods.

Fry Care

Males hold onto eggs/fry for about 2 weeks. Upon becoming free swimming they are spit out and abandoned. Fry are born large enough to eat newly hatched brine shrimp, and should be fed live food until they are large enough to be transitioned to dry foods.
