Peaceful, rarely even eats their own fry.

Anything over a pH of 7.5, prefers harder water. Can tolerate lower pH/hardness but will not breed. Does not seem to care about temperatures in terms of breeding, but warmer water speeds up the process.
Other
Grows at a moderate pace and drops fry about once a month. Allegedly can only drop fry a certain amount of times before they lose fertility but I don't think this is the case, as I had females drop twice as many as they were believed to have been able to produce. Both sexes get the blue sheen on their flanks, as well as orange in the dorsal fin, but males will get more, as well as a little orange "beard" when kept in warmer water. Will move around as a group, especially in larger numbers.
Other
Livebearing, in ideal conditions fry can be dropped once a month. Hits sexual maturity at around 0.75", though females will only start dropping fry around 1".

Warmer water, higher hardness/pH, and the presence of dense vegetation. The presence of dense (preferably floating) vegetation makes females feel secure enough to drop fry. Hornwort is excellent for this.
Fry are born large (and hungry) enough to take flake foods. They grow at a moderate pace and are typically not eaten by their parents. They should ideally be kept away from fish who would eat them, however.
