Pangio kuhlii Data Deficient

Kuhli loach, eel loach, danger noodle, coolie loach

Stats

Family

Cobitidae

Genus

pangio

Size

8.00 cm

Temperament

Peaceful, Community
Kuhli loaches are peaceful and shouldn't cause any trouble in your tank. The only things to watch out for are baby shrimp (and anything else that small) since the kuhli loaches will try to eat them.

Diet

Omnivore
Kuhli loaches will gladly eat flakes, and they might even dash up to the surface to grab a bit. Baby shrimp and small fish eggs are considered a delicacy for them.

Tank Size

50.00 L
60.00 cm x 30.00 cm

Temperature

20.0 C - 28.0 C

Parameters

pH: 6-7.5, just keep it consistent and they should do great.

Level

Bottom
Generally stay along the bottom of the tank, but may dash up to the surface now and then to grab some food.

Other Information

The more kuhli loaches you buy, the more you will see them. I recommend getting at least 4 or 5. They do fine when not in groups but they will always be hiding if alone. You should also give them plenty of hiding spots as this will make them feel like they can get away and hide quickly if needed.

Breeding

Spawning Method

Egg-scatterer
Put them in a tank with lots of thick plants and lots of live food. Try doing a slightly cooler water change to simulate rain. Then hope that they breed. No one really knows how to spawn kuhli loaches consistently, there are more reports of accidental spawning than purposeful.

Spawn Size

200 fry

Breeding Season or Trigger

Lots of live food and a cooler water change. Besides that, no one is really sure.

Fry Care

Feed them infusoria and any other tiny live food, then hope that they do well.
